About this Interview

Bassam Ayesh was born in Kuwait. His parents, both originally from Yafa, Palestine, were forced to flee their homes in 1948 and both families moved to Nablus in the West Bank, where his parents met. They moved to Kuwait in the early 1950s, where Bassam was born and lived until graduating high school. In 1984, he moved to Toledo, Ohio to study biomedical engineering. He was about to move back to Kuwait for a job when the Iraqi invasion happened in 1990. Instead, he relocated to California with friends from Kuwait.
